Day 22 of lockdown

Our morning started with a 40 minute boxing cardio workout. Man that was fun, although my calves are still recovering from previous workouts and walks, but it’s all good. There is that saying ‘NO pain NO gain’. It is true to a degree and I have to say I have never felt better after all this exercise.

Weather was wet and cold again, but we decided to go on our usual walk around the block. Our usual block is a longer walk than we had done the last couple of days. On our walk around I bumped into someone I used to see regularly at work years ago. I had seen them a couple of times previously, but today I actually asked them and they said the same, that they knew my face.

On our way back down the hill we heard a post vehicle come around the junction and almost on 2 wheels. Now our post vehicles, we liken to the children’s tyco cars, you know the red and yellow ones, but bigger and obviously for grown ups. They are electric and have a speed limit 45 kilometres per hour I think. As the vehicle past us the postie waved and smiled. We saw him and his vehicle/buggy all the way home. They are allowed to drive on the footpaths as our post boxes are situated at the end of footpaths or driveways, so as we walked we could hear this little buggy coming up behind us. We moved out of the way and followed it all the way to our road. He joked that he was following us and we had a good chuckle about crossing each others path.

The other people we saw on our walk were all cheery and I think they were just grateful that they could get out for a while whilst the weather was dry, as after lunch it pissed down again.

Hubby made our dinner tonight as it is our anniversary. He made Nachos, which were very tasty. He did a great job and with a glass of wine, it has been a great day.

A quiet night and we need to find a film to watch.

Hope all is going well for everyone and that you are all staying safe.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 21 of lockdown

Tai Chi started my morning, whilst hubby did his own workout. After we had done that we decided to double check his financial accounts before they are sent to his accountant to look at.

I managed to catch up with family last night and all was well with them, which was great news. Always lovely to talk to them as often as we can.

Another morning of winds and rain, but with a break in the rain for a while we both donned our waterproof jackets and headed out for a walk around the block. All went well until about halfway around the rain came, but it wasn’t really heavy, which was great. The winds however were very gusty in places and quite cold.

At home in the warmth and we did the hoovering and dusting before we had lunch and then settled down to watch an old ‘Carry On’ movie. They probably would not be allowed to be shown today for a number of reasons.

Throughout the lockdown I thought I would have read a book or two, but, no not one book. I have been knitting as I had been before this happened. Knitting is very therapeutic as I watch TV in the evenings.

I can feel the chill of the evening settling in now, as I write this, but I guess Summer is on its way out now. We cannot complain, we have had an amazingly hot one.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 20 of lockdown

Had a great night last night watching the film ‘ Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory’ . It was such a great iconic film when we were younger, and, no we are not THAT old!

Today we decided we would start the day with a non-stop cardio workout for 30 minutes. Man, did we feel it afterwards. After a warm shower I felt almost human again and could feel my legs working again.

The weather today was pretty much a follow on from yesterday. The winds and the rain were heavy but there were some intermittent dry spells and, it was during one of these dry spells that we wore our waterproof jackets and ventured out for a walk to the local dairy. The walk was a windy one and it only rained once, although not very hard, which was a blessing. I only brought a few eggs and a packet of biscuits and I know that people do moan about the prices of a local dairy, but starting and running a car to our local supermarket for just a couple of items would be insane. The price for a brisk walk and fresh air for our mental well being was well worth it. This afternoon we just chilled out and watched a couple of English films, which were not hugely great, but funny in places. Those films that you start to watch and think “what the?”, but carry on watching nevertheless, because you want to know what happens.

Calling family tonight and a catch up on how everything is going at home, so am looking forward to that.

Today has been a rest and relaxation day for us, which has been great. We are hoping that this lockdown will soon finish, but we are very doubtful at this moment in time. We will find out next week what will happen further with our lockdown. Fingers crossed.

Hope you are all staying safe and not going to stir crazy.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 19 of lockdown

So last night we watched the film ‘Hop’ about the Easter Bunny. Tonight’s the night we will be watching the film ‘Willy Wonka’.

The weather last night and this morning was not as bad as we were originally advised. We dressed to go out on our allowed walk around the block, but just as we were ready to go, the heavens opened. We left it to see if we could go at another time this morning, but again when we were ready to go, the rains arrived again. Sadly we gave up for today and stayed inside and did some of our own study.

We completed a 30 minute Pilates workout this morning and mid afternoon hubby did another workout whilst I did my Tai Chi.

The rains have arrived this evening and the wind is picking up. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day, so that we can get out and have that longed for walk around the block. It’s funny really, that a walk around the block helps with your mind, mentally. Keeping fit and healthy and our minds occupied seems to be working for us at the moment.

A large number of people were caught breaking the lockdown over the Easter break, trying to get away for a few days. It is very hard to be forced to stay inside because as humans we are all social people, albeit in varying degrees. I, for one am missing the interaction with others, like friends and family, but needs must and it will not be forever,.

Thoughts are with all those who have sadly lost their lives through this virus and for their families. Also thinking of those suffering and those recovering with Covid 19. Take care all of you and stay safe in your bubbles.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 18 of lockdown

Easter Sunday today.

We sent a quiz of 10 questions to some family members vis What’s App, just to keep them entertained. They didn’t do to badly.

Had a quiet day today, this morning I did some housework whilst hubby cut the grass.

Then we looked at the year end accounts, but both of us not being able to really focus on the job at hand. We will have another look in the week ahead.

Hubby finished an assignment and sent that of for marking.

Glass of wine and the other half of the chocolate bar we started yesterday was had amd greatly appreciated today.

All in all its been a funny old day. Have come to think that maybe our brains have cabin fever!

Are going to watch the original Willy Wonka movie tonight, which will be great. Gene Wilder was such a great actor. We haven’t watched that much T.V. as have tried to keep our minds and bodies active by other means.

A stormy night is due and so have moved all light or things that may get blown over away. Hopefully it wont be to bad, but we will see.

Hope you all had a great Easter.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 17 of lockdown

Didn’t feel so good this morning. Maybe am trying to hard to keep fit, who knows! Hubby did his 40 minute cardio Pilates this morning.

Anyway we did make it out for a walk, but a shorter walk around the block, just in case I needed to get back home in a hurry. The weather here is still warm and very humid, but tomorrow we are supposed to have a cold, windy snap. Let’s see what happens.

Hubby did the shopping, as he has done since our lockdown, just because he is the fittest. He decided to leave it until around 1.30 pm as he decided that it wouldn’t be quite so busy. How wrong could he have been. He said the queue was a lot longer than normal. Maybe because it was shut yesterday!

He came home just after an hour and a half, so it was not to bad. I did some housework whilst he was out. He did buy us a couple of bottles of wine and a bar of chocolate for Easter.

Today has gone really quickly and not sure what film we are watching tonight, but we have just enjoyed a glass of wine and some chocolate, so lets hope we do get to see the movie!

Have a Happy Easter everyone and have an awesome day. Hope the Easter Bunny came and delivered some eggs for all of you.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 16 of lockdown

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE.

It is Friday today, woo hoo and I have somehow given us an extra day of lockdown, which is rather unfortunate, but that was because hubby was home for the day before our government locked us down, We will just go with this.

A body blitz 30 minute cardio started our day and then around mid morning went for our allowed walk around the block. It was a little on the chilly side when we first went out but towards the end it warmed up.

After lunch we finished cleaning our kitchen cabinets, so all of them are now clean. I know that sounds like a rather laborious job, but at least it is done now and, well we had the time.

Hubby went for his bike ride and I did my Tai Chi. It got rather hot this afternoon and so we fired up the air conditioner. We are going pretty well at the moment considering that we are both ‘locked up’ together, We have only had one bad day, that cannot be bad can it? Tonight we are going to watch the film The Bourne Ultimatum, which is a great film. Stay safe and hope that you all don’t go out for an escape over Easter. Over here the police will be out and about in force. Will be interesting to see the statistics after the break!

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 15 of lockdown

Hope you are all staying safe in your bubbles and keeping healthy.

We started our morning with a high intensity cardio workout for 30 minutes. Man that really woke me up. I couldn’t keep up with it all, but I did the best I could do and felt proud of myself and felt alive.

The weather today stopped us from heading out on our walk around the block. We had just dressed to head outdoors, when the heavens opened and down came the rain. It has been on and off all day with gusty winds with it.

We decided to make the most of the day indoors and completed some of hubby’s paperwork and then we both did some of our own study.

Around mid afternoon I did my Tai Chi and hubby did his second workout, a boxing cardio session via the internet.

We never saw Muriel’s Wedding last night, but instead caught up with a couple of series that we have been following here.

Today we sure missed our walk around the block and felt a little out of sorts. I guess you do things everyday, then you do miss them when you are unable to do them. Still it was a great day and looking forward to tomorrow.

Today the police set up road blocks on major roads and junctions to stop people moving for an Easter break this weekend. From what I have read they managed to turn around a number of vehicles that were not on the road for any essential reason.

We had plans to go away this weekend, but with the lockdown in place we have decided to stay at home and do some stuff here, as if we have not done enough already. Rules are rules and we need to stay safe.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 14 of lockdown

End of the second week. Wow, who would have thought!

We did the same as the rest of the days and I have to say we do get to see and say hello/good morning to some very friendly people. I know we are all in the same boat, but we have still found some people who just clearly don’t want to talk to anyone. That’s fine, we have all got to deal with this in our own ways.

Over here people have been putting bears in their windows so that when the children walk, bike run past windows they can see them. We have seen so many bears in so many colours and I have to say so many sizes and shapes. We have a couple of houses that post stories on their bears. One show us photos of one big arse bear trying to escape the confines of the house with Ken, from Barbie and Ken, the instigator advising him with the help of other bears and dolls how he can escape. He has received a sore head and then on another attempt he received a black eye and a sore arm, that was bandaged up. The young daughter always seems to be hauling his sorry arse back up the stairs. He is trying to escape from a roof skylight window.

Another one show what a big orangutan gets up to and also his friend the giraffe. It is such a good way to keep the kids entertained during all of this.

A lot of people have been chalking hop scotch and little mini workouts on the pavements, which look super cool.

The one thing I am rocking during this lockdown however , is a suntan. The weather has been warm and so shorts are the order of the day for our walk around the block. I have noticed I am catching the sun on my legs and on my arms. GO ME!!!!

Am going to look for Muriel’s Wedding to watch tonight. Oh we live the high life.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂

Day 13 of lockdown

Another day nearly finished and oh my god that’s nearly two weeks gone.

One thing I have learned throughout this lockdown is that there is no point in rushing about and getting everything done, as we have plenty of time. We wrote a list at the start of the lockdown as to what we would like to achieve through this and as we do them, we are crossing them of the list. So far we have done half of it. Not to bad really.

Had a good day today. Workout in the morning and our walk around the block. After lunch we cleaned out the kitchen cupboards that were outstanding from the other day. Only two more cupboards to do, another time. Tai Chi done whilst hubby did a further workout instead of his bike ride.

Not every day is a great day, but always a good day. We do the best that we can with what we are able to do under this lockdown. Always keeping cheerful as being sad or grumpy just wont help the situation.

On our walk today we saw so many people, saying hello and good morning and as we past the care home waving to the elderly.

Thank you to our green bin men who picked up the organic bins today. You guys are awesome as are all our front liners, like the nurses, doctors, supermarket workers and everyone else working under these conditions.

Hope everyone is staying safe and thoughts are with all who are suffering at this time with the coronavirus, their families and those who are recovering from it too. Those that have sadly died of this are in my thoughts and also your families.

Smile and have a happy day 🙂
